I very clearly remember your original posts on OKC since I grew up there, and I agree with your “weird, weird,” observation. Sadly, many of those cool Route 66 motels are gone, and I was surprised to see how different things looked in 1997 compared today. There was little change in the city from 1981 to about 1999 and now it’s radically different, having become more generic and losing some of its “weird, weird” vibe which was not necessarily for the better
