Is it geeky to admit that most everyone I knew not only watched that special on TV when it aired, but we also all bought the album?
Not sure they could get away with this sort of parody anymore. Or maybe its just played it’s time. Still, all good memories of that.
I’ll go you one better: I watched it when it aired and recorded the whole thing on my portable cassette recorder. I think I may still have the cassette.
I bought the Rutles Lp at Woolworth’s before I bought any Beatles lp and when I heard I Am The Walrus could only think Piggy In The Middle for the longest time. Their album Archaeology is worth getting too.
I had the same problem with “Ouch!” and “Help!”. I still do, actually…
